Build an interactive browser game with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS while putting essential front-end development skills into practice.
In this project-based course, you'll create Beware of the Jolly Roger, a flag-finding game where players must reveal ten country flags without uncovering the pirate flag. Start by building the HTML game interface and styling titles, images, visibility, and clickable controls with CSS. Next, connect an external JavaScript file, generate a random pirate position, and use the browser console to diagnose script errors. Implement click event handlers, identify selected images, compare each selection with the pirate position, and update feedback dynamically using DOM manipulation. Complete the game by displaying win and lose messages, preventing duplicate clicks, and disabling further interaction when play ends. You'll also use JavaScript arrays and indexes to display successive country flags after valid clicks. Designed for learners with basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript knowledge, this course takes you from interface setup to a playable game. Rather than studying concepts in isolation, you'll apply randomization, event handling, and game-state validation in one complete browser project.
